I am majoring in special education because I believe that it is very important to give every student an equal opportunity regardless of ability. Many teachers say that the reason they teach is to see the look on a students' face when they finally understand something. Having worked with special needs students, I believe it is incredibly rewarding to simply see a smile on these kids' faces and see them having fun and enjoying something. They come against so much ridicule in their lives so I hope to give them an escape from that even for a little bit while in my classroom.
